Do you wish to start selling your goods and services on
the internet with an ecommerce web site?
It may seem strange that the we should be starting ths section
with a warning.... do you really need an ecommerce site?
What is "full ecommerce"?
Essentially full ecommerce will give your customer the ability
to browse your products and buy online at any time of the day or
night, paying for the products you are selling with debit or credit
card. This all seems like good news and most businesses would jump
at the chance to have a shop open 24 hours a day.
Don't be put off, the benefits are clearly there but it is important
to recognise the set up and ongoing costs before making the decision
that your business needs full ecommerce.
What do you need?
- e-commerce web site
- Secure server to accept credit card details online
- Web space
- Domain name
- End user software to manage orders
- Processing account with your bank or other provider
- Regular updates to stock on the site
- Credit card facilities
Setting up an e-commerce site is not just a case of designing a
web site and loading up a "click here to pay" button.
E-Commerce Web Sites - Just £850 all inclusive
EA Design can create a fully functional e-commerce web site, including
the supply of the relevant end user software, web space, secure
server and domain name for just £850.
Other than this cost you should also take account of a cost of
around £35 - £50 per month that you bank or other service
provider will charge to process the online payments for you and
obviously the standard percentage charge that your credit card company
will make on purchases made.

If your business
is likely to generate sufficient extra online sales to justify this
cost then we should talk straight away, however if the ongoing costs
have made you take a sharp intake of breath then don't worry, there
could be other solutions that will still get you selling on the
web.
Stripping out costs to get you started.
We have found that many businesses want to start selling on the
internet but are loathe to take the plundge due to the high cost
of the bank services that they have to sign up to and the uncertainty
that the investment will show a positive return.
There are solutions to this problem and EA Design can help you
get off the ground with e-commerce without the ongoing cost risk.
If you currently have "customer not present" credit card
facilities then you can have the same fully automated site accepting
secure payments by credit card as detailed above. The only difference
is that when orders are received you will need to phone them through
to your credit card provider in the normal way. This removes the
need to sign up for online authorisation of payments with you bank
saving the monthly cost of around £50 per month.
The web site will look exactly the same and the clients will be
advised that their payments will be deducted from their account
after a short period rather than straight away.
If, after you have tested the water, you feel that full automation
of the process is viable then you can simply add the online authorisation
service to your account.
The web site will still cost the same in design terms as the secure
server, design, hosting and web space are still required. However
this will be all you pay other than the cost of any updates which
you wish to make to the site.
The best way to find out about e-commerce is to give
us a call or make an enquiry. We
will be happy to discuss all the options available to you at any
time without obligation.
If you do not currently, or do not wish to accept credit card payments
then you may want to consider our "paypal"
web site design service.
